Copy and paste

Your computer's clipboard and the desktop's are separate. The Clipboard box under the screen carries text between them. For files, see Move files in and out.

Paste into the desktop

  1. Choose Send my clipboard. Your browser may ask for permission to read the clipboard.
  2. Click where the text should go on the desktop and press Ctrl+V.

If your browser does not allow that, paste the text into the box and choose Send to browser, then press Ctrl+V on the desktop.

Copy out of the desktop

  1. Select text on the desktop and press Ctrl+C. The text appears in the Clipboard box.
  2. Choose Copy to put it on your own clipboard.

The desktop runs Linux, so its shortcuts use Ctrl, also when you are on a Mac.
